I was wrong
Well, it turns out I was wrong. Bryan said that my Dad told him the doctor gives my Mom 8 to 14 months.

No more chemo!
Well, the good news is that Mom quit her chemo today. The bad news is that it wasn’t working and the cancer has actually grown since they started the chemo. The good news is that they didn’t say, “Well, the chemo’s not working, get your affairs in order.” Instead, they are sending her to Columbus for some sort of special radiation treatment. They don’t do this kind of treatment in Lima, so she’s heading to the James Center for it. The good news is they are trying other options and keeping a positive outlook. I’m hoping now that Mom’s off the chemo she will regain her energy. That will help her fight.
Thank you to all of you who are praying for my Mom. I believe that every prayer is being heard and will be answered by the God who loves each one of us more than we can ever imagine.

One of my favorite Psalms: (I read it so often my Bible falls open to this page now.)
I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart;
I will sing your praises before the gods.
I bow before your holy Temple as I worship.
I will give thanks to your name
for your unfailing love and faithfulness,
because your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.
When I pray, you answer me;
you encourage me by giving me the strength I need.

Every king in all the earth will give you thanks, O Lord,
for all of them will hear your words.
Yes, they will sing about the Lord’s ways,
for the glory of the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,
but he keeps his distance from the proud.

Though I am surrounded by troubles,
you will preserve me against the anger of my enemies.
You will clench your fist against my angry enemies!
Your power will save me.
The Lord will work out his palns for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don't abandon me, for you made me.

Psalm 138 (NLT)

Mom 11-19-06
My Mom is in the hospital right now. She had an episode Friday morning where her heart started racing and she couldn't breathe. Her doctor decided she must have too much fluid accumulating in her lungs and abdomen, so he admitted her to the hospital. They drained a lot of fluid off (she weighed herself today and is 13 pounds lighter than when they admitted her!) and that seems to be helping in a lot of ways. But, she had another episode with the racing heart bit this morning. So, she'll get checked out tomorrow to see if they can figure out what's going on. Mom is convinced that something is wrong with her heart. She has been convinced of that for quite a long time now. Hopefully the doctors can figure it out too.

Net Neutrality
Got an email from my cousin CJ earlier this week. Apparently the internet is under attack. Check out the video. It's very interesting.

My Mom
I talked with my Mom yesterday. She had been having a lot of trouble breathing & the doctor kept saying he didn't know why. Well, he finally ordered a cat scan of her lungs. What do you know, she had fluid on her lungs. (I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I'm guessing that it's hard to breathe that way.) So he gave her a "water pill." (Again, not sure what this is) And my Mom is convinced it is a miracle. She got up Saturday and was able to get up, get showered and get dressed without stopping to catch her breath! Amazing. She's still tired from the chemo, but she can breathe! Yay! Oxygen is good.

What have you done?
OK, it's been exactly one month since I've posted anything. I've been pretty depressed and basically hibernating. But, my good friends here in Wilmore took me out to dinner Tuesday night and that kind of broke me out of my slump. Thank you, my friends.

My Mom is doing OK. She doesn't seem to be as tired from the chemo these days. Or maybe, she's just as tired, but she's learning to adapt and cope and thus doesn't seem as tired to the rest of us. She is planning to host a Thanksgiving dinner for her parents and a few other relatives. She's going to buy the dinner at Meijer and just reheat it all. I'll be on hand the day before and the day of to help out. It should be nice. I need to learn to appreciate these mundane activities while I still have them.

I found this on a couple of other blogs I like to read. I thought it would be interesting to see what I've done. What I have discovered is that I haven't done much! (I'm pretty good at mundane. lol) I resisted adding comments to every item. (None of us have that much time. lol)
